This is it – the last day of 2013. It has been a year with ups and downs for us – fortunately some awesome travel experiences and some good times, along with some personal challenges such as illness and deaths in the families and other worries. Such is life – we must embrace and take joy in the high moments, and let the harder moments teach and challenge us to be better.
We sincerely hope that 2013 was a good one for you, and wish all our readers a happy holiday season and wonderful new year. One in which all your travel dreams come true!
With that in mind, we’d like to share the best of our How to Travel for Free book and blog from the past year. I (Shelley) also put together an annual “Year of Travel” photo slideshow every year, and the video for the 2013 show is at the bottom of this page.
The overall stats for our blog are that we had 77,000 visitors this year! We are thrilled about it, as that’s a big number for our little endeavor.
Bookwise, our biggest news was that we released our new, Updated 2nd Edition of the original 2010 book – jam packed with all new sections and information about traveling for less money than you’d spend staying home, and exactly how we do that all the time. We also updated all the other original information and added new resources and links. You can even get a print copy autographed by us!
Interestingly enough, our top blog posts of the year in terms of traffic, were all posts that we wrote BEFORE 2013! For posts written this year, the top was the Top 5 Places you can Work for a Free Night’s Stay, which was a guest post by Leah Kaminsky. Leah also had another top post for 2013, with The Best Jobs that can Pay for your Travel. Other top pieces included my Close to Free Family Vacation in Southern California, and Two Weeks Vacation Makes you Boring.
Thank you again for coming along with us on our road to traveling for free this year, and we hope to see you around in 2014 as well. We will be back on January 10 with our first edition of Friday Travel Dreaming for the new year. See you then!
And our Year in Travel photo slideshow is below. Travel Well!
