Vayama Go Somewhere Tour Crosses the States Inspiring International Travel

“To travel is to live.” – Hans Christian Anderson

Sometimes taking the first step toward an international trip is the most difficult, even if you have dreamed of travel for years. I recently learned about a campaign that Vayama, an online travel agency, is rolling out to help people make their travel dreams a reality. I used the site to book many aspects of my travel in India last November because they are solely focused on international travel. The Vayama Go Somewhere Tour is traveling to 12 unique markets throughout the west coast and southwestern states, encouraging people to think about where in the world they’d like to travel and help them make that dream a reality.

A fun game show allows players to compete against one another on international trivia. And a custom-created iPad app allows people to navigate an interactive map to learn compelling facts about different cities around the globe, see beautiful images and watch picturesque time-lapsed videos. If people are interested to learn more, the app allows them to easily sign up for destination-specific content on the city of their choosing.

After all, recent statistics reveal that only 39 percent of the country’s population has a U.S. passport. For those people who dream about taking an international trip, walking away with a passport-ready photo in hand brings them one step closer to taking that trip abroad.

Over the course of the tour, people who visit the Go Somewhere Tour truck can enter the Go Somewhere Sweepstakes. The Grand Prize winner will receive an international trip for two on Emirates Airline, plus U.S. $2,000 cash spending money. Twelve lucky First Prize winners (1 winner in each market) will receive a U.S. $1,500 travel voucher, redeemable on

Those who miss the tour in their area are still invited to participate in the Go Somewhere Sweepstakes. They can enter anytime before August 4, 2013 for a chance to win the Grand Prize via Vayama’s Facebook page.

About Shelley Seale

I'm Shelley, a journeyer and learner of the world, freelance journalist and author, yoga chick and dog lover. I pound the keyboard from home barefoot every day, and while my boss is demanding she also occasionally lets me have the early afternoon cocktail. I think not going into an office or collecting corporate paychecks are very good ideas, though not always profitable. I have written for National Geographic, USA Today, The Guardian, Texas Monthly and CNN, among others. Neither the New York Times nor Johnny Depp have answered my letters yet. I love yoga, indie movies, wine, and books, though not necessarily in that order. I believe in karma. Mean people suck. If I could have any dream job I would like to be a superhero. I have performed a catch on the flying trapeze, boarded down a live volcano and was once robbed by a monkey in Nepal. But, I don't know how to whistle. My mantra is "travel with a purpose."
